In the last decade, the Hispanic population in the US has grown by almost 58 percent. According to Census 2000 data, there are now more than 35.3 million Hispanics in America, and the trend indicates that this growth will continue.

The Hispanic population is comprised of people whose origins can be traced to 19 countries and the island of Puerto Rico. Although many customs and traditions vary from country to country, the Spanish language remains a shared cultural component that is readily understandable throughout el mundo Hispano.
